Having had broken sleep from the constant trains sounding their horns
throughout the night at The Battle Mountain Inn, it was time to move on.
Battle Mountain was allegedly designated as the “Armpit of America” by the Washington Post, who am I to argue. Although I’d add “Noisy Armpit”...
The General was pointed in the direction East where we stumbled upon
cars with trailers carrying hotrods and jet powered cars of all shapes and sizes,
this we thought must be Bonneville. The directions on the internet said “take Salt Flat Rd and when the tarmac ends, keep going due East for three miles at any speed you want, then you’ll come across people racing”.
This has to be an experience of a life time, very strange that it seems like your driving into a lake but the mirage effect makes the water vanish long before you get there.
After putting the General through his paces (filming wise) we went over to the large gathering of speed enthusiasts and got to work filming .
Then headed back to the town of Wendover and found a room for the night, from which I type these few words. First thing in the morning we return to the flats to try to get an interview for our film.
night night.
Wish I was there to see that with you. Stay safe. Pc x
